The law on medical pay increases and the withdrawal of gratitude money was passed with unprecedented speed and parliamentary support. According to a 2013 survey, only 6 percent of doctors support gratitude money. However, the introduction of the new status, as well as other passages of the law, caused quite a stir in the medical community. Sándor Pintér called the medical chamber again to make an appointment, resulting in his ATV Start program.

According to Gyula Kincses, president of the Hungarian Medical Chamber, the withdrawal of the thank you money will bring about a substantial change in no time. The doctor said in his ATV Start program that since it will be a prohibited crime after January 1, many will not take chances and it will turn out for people that Hungarian medical care provides patients fairly, without money of gratitude.

According to Kincses, the way the law was introduced, as well as the fact that they were unaware of it and had no official time to comment, certainly sparked serious resistance from the medical community. He also complained that doctors could be appointed for up to two years.

The president of the MOK stated that doctors were not soldiers, they did not choose their profession with this approach. “The fact that there is no doctor in Dombóvár, so someone from Kecskemét will be relocated for 2 years in frog time, is unacceptable,” emphasized Kincses, who said that this was acceptable in an epidemic situation, since they were there to help.

The doctor said that they can start from what is in the text of the law published in the Magyar Közlöny, the interview granted to Viktor HírTV by Orbán is not legally binding.

Kincses said that Gergely Gulyás had promised with information from the government that there would be an agreement, and also had already received a letter from Sándor Pintér for an agreement earlier this week.
