FIFA released the top ten lists on November 25, which has now been narrowed down to the top three in all categories, including Puskás Award nominees.

THEY REMAINED IN THREE COMPETITIONS

• Giorgian De Arrascaeta (Uruguay, Flamengo) in the Brazilian Championship Ceará-Flamengo

Szon Hung Min (South Korea, Tottenham) in the English league game against Burnley

Luis Suarez (Uruguay, Barcelona / Atlético de Madrid) in the Spanish league against Mallorca

At the FIFA Gala, nominated in all categories selected based on their results between July 20, 2019 and October 7, 2020, The goal that later won the Puskás Award also had to be scored during this time.

The Puskás Award will be awarded in the same way as in the previous year in 2020: from the list of 11 people established by FIFA, fans selected the best three in an online vote, and the FIFA Legends Expert Committee selects the three goals with the most votes (shown above). who is the final winner.

As is well known, in 2019, Dániel Zsóri’s acrobatic goal against Ferencváros became the most beautiful hit of the year.

Sepp Blatter, then president of FIFA, announced the constitution of the Puskás Award on October 20, 2009 in the company of Viktor Orbán in Felcsút. The brainchild was a sports-loving engineer, István Csorba, who entered the Nemzeti Sport editorial office in 2006 and shared his ideas with our current editor-in-chief György Szöllősi, a member of the soccer team at the time. The next milestone was the 2007 UEFA Congress, at which Ferenc Puskás was posthumously awarded the emerald rating of the UEFA Order of Merit, and his widow delivered an idea letter for the award to Blatter, who supported the initiative. Finally, the big moment came in December 2009, at the FIFA gala in Zurich, the widow Ferenc Puskás handed over the football goal and the ball-forming trophy (an original copy can also be seen at home during the Puskás Academy Tour ) to the first winner, the Portuguese Cristiano Ronaldo. Unfortunately, István Csorba could no longer experience this.

At the end of November, Nemzeti Sport Online asked its readers who would be awarded the Puskás Prize in 2020. Luis Suárez won the vote.

The Puskás Award will be presented at next week’s FIFA online gala, among the trophies for the best players and coaches of the year. You can read about the finalists in each category here!
