Regulations have been published on a general extension of the repayment moratorium. Those who have paid their loan this month, that is, December, must apply to the banks.
In early December, banks began notifying customers by letter and online about the loan repayment moratorium, as the rules would have changed in 2021. However, the government has extended the moratorium on loan repayments, so many people do not know exactly what to do at the time, if they need to report such requests to their bank, if they have to fill out a form to do so or if they are subject to the extension.
Then there is nothing to do
Chancellor Gergely Gulyás told the latest information from the Government that the repayment of loans contracted before March 18, 2020 could be suspended by the debtors until June 30, 2021, as before. Exactly this means that there is nothing to do about it, not even the need to contact the competent bank. Gergely Gulyás also emphasized that the information letters sent by the banks in relation to next year’s payment were “irrelevant”, in this case clients would consider it irrelevant.
Who is eligible?
According to the latest issue of Magyar Közlöny, a person who has an obligation to pay the principal, interest or fees of a contract awarded by a creditor is entitled to a moratorium until June 30, 2021. The extension of the moratorium also It applies to participants of the National Asset Management Program, who have the obligation to pay the purchase price in installments or rent.
Then there is something to do
You must contact the creditor in writing or electronically if you did not participate in the moratorium this month, that is, December, but would enter from January of next year, which means that you want to temporarily suspend the payment of the installments. This means that you won’t have to visit the lending institution when you want to get out of the moratorium and start repaying again, but if you’ve already paid it so far, you’d take the opportunity now.
