Midterm municipal elections are taking place today in six settlements, and there are several elections, which could not be held on the originally announced spring date due to the emergency situation. In Szendrő, Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén county, an interim mayoral election is taking place because the János Dolányi resigned his position. The election would have originally been held in May, but due to the provisions of the Coronavirus Epidemic Control Act, the provisional election was lost. Seven independent candidates will run for mayor on Sunday, with 2,978 Sandendos on the election list.
The mayor of Vattán, also in Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén county, and a four-member council will be elected after the council dissolves in June. Two are running for mayor: one candidate as a joint candidate from Fidesz, the KDNP and the National Forum, and one as an independent candidate. The election is open to 4,822 locals.
In Ráckeve, Pest County, there will be elections in two individual constituencies: in constituency No. 5 Mária Csernáné Rózsa (Together for the City Association) resigned in March, and No. 6 resigned Bobek Gábor József (Fidesz-KDNP) died in January. The two votes would have been originally held in April and May, but were also lost due to the emergency. Six candidates were registered for Sunday voting in both districts, with a total of nearly two thousand voters voting in the two districts.
In Kalocsa, Bács-Kiskun county, parliamentary elections are also being held in constituency number 7, as the current representative of the constituency. György Jánosi (Fidesz-KDNP-Association for the Future of Kalocsa) resigned in March. Four will run for the seats, with 1,537 local residents eligible to vote.
In Hajdúnánás, Hajdú-Bihar county, a local government representative is also elected, the representative of the 5th constituency elected in October last year. Two national elections for intermediate settlements are also taking place today: Roma representatives are elected in Pusztaföldvár in Békés county and in Hetvehely in Baranya county. However, in the absence of the required number of candidates, the nationality of the settlement will be left at Isaszeg and Bugyi in Pest county, Szabolcsbáka and Tiszamogyorós in Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg county, Biharnagybajom in Hajdú-Bihar county and Iregszemcs in Tolna County.
Local election offices install a hand sanitizer at polling stations to prevent the spread of the coronavirus epidemic, which voters can use when entering and leaving the polling station. Members of the counting committees wear a mask and ask voters to do the same. They are also asked to keep a distance of at least 1.5 meters from other waiters if they have to queue and to bring a pen to vote. Patients with reduced mobility, as with all elections, can now request a mobile ballot box from the counting committee no later than 12 noon on Election Day.
