At least six people were injured when a woman in her car collided with the protest crowd in New York on Friday, writes the New York Times. Authorities said six people were taken to the hospital and their condition was not life-threatening.
There have been several videos of the incident, one of which shows the car first driving slowly through the crowd, then taking off with a sudden accelerator and striking multiple people.
The 52-year-old woman who was driving the car was arrested and a 29-year-old woman was sitting in the car next to her. It was still unclear why the woman drove through the crowd.
The protesters wanted to draw attention to the detainees who had been on hunger strike in the ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) prison for almost a month.
