In July, Hungarian hospitals were operating at almost normal performance in the summer, according to the latest data from the National Health Insurance Fund (NEAK), they treated 158 thousand cases. Only the chronic classes go with just over half a house, it turns out from the compilation of hvg.hu.

With the emergence of the coronavirus and subsequent measures, the number of cases treated in Hungarian hospitals dropped by half as of February. However, performance data released on Monday, but from July, already shows that the performance of care in active departments is slowly but surely beginning to return to the previous level, the portal writes.

In May, performance improved somewhat (101,801), in June tens of thousands more people requested care (137,739), and in July it almost returned to the previous level, when 157,905 people were hospitalized in Hungary, which is only a few thousand less than at that moment. usual.

The situation is slightly different in chronic wards, where such a level of growth has not been observed so far. In July, there were still 21% fewer people cared for in these beds than the previous year, with 63% bed occupancy, compared to 84% in July last year.

According to an expert who told the portal, the relatives of people who need chronic care are now more cautious, and due to the coronavirus, they are reluctant to admit their loved ones not only in social institutions but also in hospitals.
