The Miskolc District Court arrested a boy under the age of fourteen for throwing his three-year-old brother into a digestive well near Szerencs. He committed his rather shocking act last April, but it was only now that the case had reached the stage of ordering the arrest of the suspect.
According to the investigation, the boy was jealous of his three-year-old half-brother. On the sinister day, the boy played unsupervised by his parents with his younger siblings, cousins, including his three-year-old brother. The boy removed the cover from the backyard sewer while playing, then grabbed the boy’s hands and feet and threw them into the clarifier. The boy did not tell anyone about his deed, he sealed the lid of the digestion well and entered the apartment.
The body of the minor victim was found in the sewer several hours later. His death was caused by drowning. The boy was suspected of extreme cruelty, a murder committed to the detriment of a defenseless person under the age of fourteen.
Since he has not yet reached the age of fourteen, he can only be sentenced to up to four years in prison. As the minor has previously left his place of residence in an unknown place, it is feared that in the future he will escape or hide from the authorities. But it can also be assumed that, if released, he would jeopardize the effectiveness of the evidence or commit another crime by influencing witnesses. For all these reasons, the court ordered his arrest for one month. The court’s decision was also accepted by the prosecutor, the child, and his lawyer, making the order final.
