Oral karate and shaking: will the 2018 final be repeated?

As is well known, in the final of the PDC World Darts Championship London 2021, the third standout Gerwyn Price will play against two-time world champion Gary Anderson. The duel between the two promises to be spicy, as in the 2018 Grand Slam of Darts final, which led Price to victory, the two players colluded with each other.

Gerwyn Price’s journey to the third climax was quite bumpy, but he kept his cool at the crucial moments. Gary Anderson, for his part, took the obstacles on the way to the final, except for the match against Mensur Suljovic.

Gerwyn Price (Wales, 3rd ed.)
Round 1 Gerwyn Price (Wales, 3.) Jamie Lewis (Galesi) 3–2
Round 2 Gerwyn Price (Wales, 3.) Brendan Dolan (Northern Ireland, 30) 4-3
Round 3 Gerwyn Price (Wales, 3.) Mervyn King (English 19) 4–1
Quarter finals Gerwyn Price (Wales, 3.) Daryl Gurney (Northern Ireland, 11th) 5-4
Semifinal Gerwyn Price (Wales, 3.) Stephen Bunting (English, 26) 6–4
The Way of Gary Anderson (Scotsman, 13)
Round 1 Gary Anderson (Scotsman, 13th) Madars Razma (Latvian) 3-1
Round 2 Gary Anderson (Scotsman, 13th) Mensur Suljovic (Austrian, 20th) 4-3
Round 3 Gary Anderson (Scotsman, 13th) Devon Petersen (South Africa, 29) 4-0
Quarter finals Gary Anderson (Scotsman, 13th) Dirk van Duijvenbode (Netherlands) 5–1
Semifinal Gary Anderson (Scotsman, 13th) Dave Chisnall (English, 8) 6–3

Anderson can already claim that he is a two-time world champion, winning in 2015 and 2016, while his Welsh opponent reached the final for the first time.

Price has shown in recent years that he can do his best in tough situations, as he has shown in previous rounds. However, their player in top form this year was not known for his composure: In the 2018 Grand Slam of Darts final, he had just knocked Gary Anderson off the swing several times, who then signaled with his voice and hand that his opponent he had crossed a line.

MOUTH, FINGERS, PUSH – IT WAS ALL HERE

“I know Gary doesn’t like my style, but that’s my game for me Price said after the end. – When he first expressed his disgust, he already knew that I had “gotten under my skin.” He couldn’t handle the way I play. He always complained when I celebrated. “

Price was fined for the adventure of the two and their behavior in the quarterfinals, while Anderson received an official warning.

Belgium’s Kim Huybrechts also commented after the 2018 final in question.

The balance of the current finalists against each other also shows that we can expect a close match to the extreme. They have met 15 times so far, eight of which have been won by Scottish excellence, but Price has proven to be better in his last two matches.

Price, by the way, became the fourth player to reach £ 1 million in the PDC world rankings. Last November Wright was third, previously the (still) world leader, Michael van Gerwen was second, and of course dart legend Phil Taylor was first, exactly ten years ago.
