The launch of the vaccination program is great news. The results of clinical trials so far with all newly developed vaccines are encouraging, so there is hope to curb the epidemic. This, of course, also depends on the willingness to vaccinate, which varies. Only 40% in Poland and 79% in Great Britain. A 60% rate should be achieved for herd immunity, including those who have already been infected. According to Ferenc Falus, everyone in Hungary can get vaccinated at the end of the summer.
Until then, however, we have a difficult period ahead of us, as evidenced by the fact that in China, where the first wave has been held back by drastic restrictions, tipping points are beginning to form again. Even more worrying is that in Africa, which has survived the first wave of the epidemic relatively well, the second wave could wreak much more havoc. I mean, the world public seems to be aware of this, that we haven’t gotten over it. Even in Hungary, most think that 2021 will be better, but they are less confident in the recovery of the economy.
