Nearly half a million new infections were found in one day

There are already 40,344,310 people in the world infected with the coronavirus epidemic, with 1,117,539 deaths and 27,627,761 survivors at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Central European time, Tuesday morning.

A day earlier, 39,898,689 infected people were registered, which means that 445,000 new infections were registered in the last 24 hours.

The death toll was 1,112,588 and the number cured was 27,420,679.The infection is present in 189 countries and regions. Experts say that the number of diagnosed cases does not accurately reflect reality because the number of tests is more or less limited in each country and the registration criteria also vary.

The disease caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus, called Covid-19, is the one that affects the United States the most, where it has already infected 8,212,767 people, killed 220,110 and cured 3,272,603.

In Asia, the situation is more serious in India, with 7,550,273 infected, 114,610 dead and 6,663,608 recovered.

In South America, Brazil is the most infected, with 5,250,727 infected, 154,176 dead, and 4,526,393 recovered.

And in Europe, Spain is the engine: 974,449 infected and 33,992 dead. But France is no better: 952,600 infected, 33,647 dead and 109,611 recovered.

There is not much to know for sure about the inadequate testing and health care system in Africa, but there are the most infected in South Africa, with 705,254 registered. Of these, 18,492 died and 635,257 recovered.
