Alexei Navalny’s Moscow apartment was also seized and his dollar account was frozen after a school catering organization sued the politician for defamation and the court did them justice, a spokesman for the Russian opposition politician announced.
There has been a long-running lawsuit between a poisoned company called Navalny and the Moscow Schoolchild over which a Russian politician had previously disputed the quality of the food. The company sued the Navalny Foundation, the Anti-Corruption Foundation (FBK) and its lawyer Ljubov Szobol, to pay 1.4 million dollars for the damage caused to the company by the defamation.
On Thursday, the court ordered Navalny, Szobol and the foundation to pay $ 900,000, saying they caused so much damage to the company that several people terminated their contracts after criticizing Navalny. As part of that, on August 27, the politician’s bank account was frozen and his apartment was also seized so that he could not sell it.
Navalny supporters say the case is also part of a campaign to have the politician expire. (Guardian)
