More than 1,800 containers were lost by a cargo ship in the Pacific Ocean

It could be the most serious case of all time.

Moored in the Japanese city of Kobe at its port by a Japanese freighter from which more than eight hundred containers fell into the Pacific Ocean while sailing from China to the United States. According to shipping magazines, the incident could be the biggest loss of all time – a major incident occurred only when the cargo ship sank.

A video was filmed of a ship named ONE Apus while sailing towards a Japanese port. In the recording you can see the containers placed in towers still 100 meters high on the deck at the time of departure.

The Japanese company that operated the ship said 1,816 containers fell into the water when the ship was in a storm. Among them were 64 pieces with dangerous shipments: 54 were fireworks, eight were batteries and two were liquid ethanol.

The incident occurred on November 30. A member of the crew shared a photo from the deck a few days later.

The ship arrived at the Kobe port on December 8. According to early investigations, thousands of the containers left on board were also damaged, and the damage could reach up to two hundred million dollars (58.5 billion guilders), reported the British logistics magazine TheLoadstar.
