More and more people are killed, many more are still being searched due to devastating floods in France and Italy

A firefighter was killed and at least 19 people were killed in floods in southeastern France and northwestern Italy, local authorities said Saturday.

Storms brought on by a storm named Alex washed away roads and houses. Several villages near Nice suffered severe damage. According to Christian Mayor Christian Estrosi the worst floods in 100 years have hit the countryside. At least 8 people have disappeared on the French side of the border, including two firefighters dragged through the water with their cars.

The settlements most affected by the verdict are in the valleys of the Roya and Vésubie rivers. The flooding of the two rivers isolated several settlements from the outside world in the area, including Saint-Martin-Vésubie.

The Saint-Martin-Vésubie bridge, with 1,400 inhabitants, was also destroyed for the price, with dozens of people safe at night. Communication in the area is hampered and thousands of homes have been without electricity. Several sections of the highway became impassable.

The area received an average of 200-350 millimeters and in some places 500 millimeters of rain during the day.

In southeastern France, sentences also escalated last fall, killing fourteen in two weeks. In October 2015, the floods in Cannes and Mandelieu-la-Napoule killed 20 people. On Saturday, the victims of the 2015 sentence are remembered in Cannes.

Italy is also a deadly victim of the storm

At least two people have died in Italy, 11 people cannot be found. A detached branch from a tree fell onto a fire engine, was killed instantly and a man in his 30s was killed when his car was washed away by a flooded river.

Among the missing is a group of six German tourists who embarked on a hike but have shown no signs of life since. Alberto Cirio, Piedmont regional leader, asked the government to declare a state of emergency.
