The world will be the same, just a little worse
RFI quotes Michel Houellebecq made a statement on Monday.
The French writer added that he did not believe for half a second the statements that “nothing will be the same as before.”
We will not wake up in a new world after quarantine is lifted. The outbreak is extremely normal.
– and called COVID-19 a “banal virus” that does not have good properties, nor is it even transmitted sexually.
Houellebecq also noted that the West does not have the divine right to be the richest and most developed area in the world. Although, he thinks it is not surprising, because it has not been like that for a long time. According to the writer, even the mortality figures are a good reflection of the world as we know it.
France did better than Spain and Italy, but not as well as Germany. There are no big surprises.
Houellebecq also complained that he was unable to walk more than a mile from his home due to strict French regulations.
