MÁV and Volánbusz will further toughen the use of masks

As of September 21, the use of the mask will be mandatory not only in public transport, but also in the station and stop rooms where the passenger is before or after takeoff, said MÁV-Start on its website at reference to a government decree published on September 18.

The regulation applies to all passengers over the age of six. MÁV and Volánbusz will exclude all passengers who do not wear a mask that covers the nose and mouth in the manner prescribed by the decree. It was also added that it is no longer enough to wear a scarf or a shawl, but rather a medical mask, a safety mask or a mask made of cloth or other material should be worn when traveling.

It was noted that an offending passenger who refuses to cooperate despite being asked to do so may be charged an additional fee or excluded from the trip, and in the event of further non-compliance, staff may request the assistance of the police to take action against the detained passenger and report.

MÁV and Volánbusz continue to urge their passengers to comply with public health regulations and not to use public transport in case of illness with symptoms of a cold or fever. To reduce queues and personal contacts, when purchasing tickets and passes, give preference to electronic ticketing options, such as using the MÁV app.
