The attacker, who turned 33 at the beginning of December, was injured in the Hungarian national team’s European Championship qualifiers against Iceland, for which he traveled back to Germany on Sunday morning and could no longer play in the game of the League of Nations against Serbia and Turkey.

On Tuesday, the Mainz website revealed that Szalai’s meniscus was injured in his left knee, preventing him from playing soccer for weeks. At the time, it was only certain that the Hungarian forward would receive more investigations during the week.

According to a photo on Szalai’s Instagram page, the soccer player who was posted from his hospital bed underwent surgery on Thursday.
