A viral letter is being distributed on behalf of Magyar Posta. Caution: User data stored on your computer or mobile device will be compromised if you open a malicious email attachment, the state-owned company warns.
Deceptive and dangerous emails using Magyar Posta image elements are spreading; the company has received several reports. A fake email, which usually includes a shipping ID, asks you to open and print an attachment to receive a shipment.
However, the attachment contains malicious code that takes control of the computer and also collects the victim’s personal information. Magyar Posta does not send shipping data by email. If your shipment contains a tracking code, you can access authentic shipment information at any time by entering the code on the post office website.
This year, the Post Office launched a joint educational campaign with the police to detect fraud on the Internet. Among other things, the promise of non-Hungarian wording, misspellings, overpromising and expensive phones, or other prizes can always give reason for caution. Magyar Posta takes customer reports of misleading notifications seriously and, in addition to informing the public, it also notifies the authority authorized to take action.
