According to the French president, the management of epidemics requires a “global and coordinated approach” and “a transparent and valid science under the control of the best possible researchers in the world.”
“This is not the case at present with the Chinese vaccine. For me, short-term efficacy may be detrimental to medium-term efficacy in this situation,” he added.
Emmanuel Macron stressed that China has pursued effective “vaccine diplomacy” in the Balkan and African countries in recent months. “Not entirely clear to us, but with spectacular diplomatic success.”
“This may seem more effective than the multilateral approach that we have been living with for months. But I think that if our approach is global and coordinated, we can be more effective in the long term,” said the French president.
