The divorce proceedings for Lőrinc Mészáros and Beatrix Mészáros began on Wednesday morning.
Our colleagues wanted to ask Mészáros questions in front of the court, but they were not allowed to approach him. When Mészáros got out of the car, his men covered him with an umbrella and then lined up, preventing journalists and photographers from approaching him.
While the Butchers were in court, our colleagues could not enter the building, not even to pay the parking fee. They had to wait until, after about half an hour, the Butchers exited the court through a back door.
Although Mészáros said in February that he did not consider himself a public figure, his divorce was reported by the state news agency. Ms. Készen Beatrix Mészáros has been a strong owner so far in building perhaps the fastest growing family fortune in Hungarian economic history, so the divorce will also have an impact on the business empire, as we have detailed in this Article.
