Aside from the support of those in need, scholarships were also not mentioned: hvg.hu learned from one of the university students. And by order of the Chancellor, an important external place for education was closed.

There is growing resistance from students and professors to the erosion of the autonomy of the University of Theater and Film Arts (SZFE) due to the government’s decision to continue the university as a foundation under Attila Vidnyánszky. More and more world-famous artists are joining the solidarity movement around SZFE, but the Vidnyánszky family is not expanding. You can follow the latest developments in the SZFE scandal in our article series.

The amounts of social support and scholarship should have arrived on behalf of the affected students of the University of Theater and Film Arts (SZFE) already in mid-October, but no later than the end of October, but it is expected that the initiation document of the transfer is signed by and hvg.hu of the SZFE students on Thursday, November 5 in the afternoon.

We are also looking for Gábor Szarka in the case, who said he did not want to comment yet. However, shortly after the publication of our article, he sent an SMS stating that “social scholarships have been awarded in the SZFE”. After that, we also asked about several SZFE students – they said the amount had not yet been credited to their account, but they were optimistic and hoped the scholarships would come after the deadline.

A student may be entitled to a student scholarship based on academic results, but social support is granted based on need: housing conditions, distance to the university, income of people who live in the same home as the student, health status.

In other words, support for those who needed it most was withdrawn

Said Panni Szurdi, a university student.

The amount of the two scholarships for September and October can reach up to 70-80 thousand florins for some students. In many cases, the amount representing students’ one-time income was anticipated by donations from college students. The issue of scholarships affects approximately one in five full-time college students.

We also learned that, following instructions from Chancellor Gábor Szarka, the employees closed another location that is important for learning: one of the exterior studios of the film department on Róna Street. The room is vital for cinematography students, here they were held four hours a week, but here they were also held one or two hours a week for directors, editing, visual design and other film students.
