Sex discrimination was sanctioned with 90 thousand euros.

The Paris city administration violated the regulations prohibiting sex discrimination and was therefore fined 90,000 euros. According to French law, none of them can occupy senior positions exceeding 60 percent,

however, 11 of the 16 municipality leaders appointed in 2018 were women.

Mayor Anne Hidalgo called the decision absurd, unfair, irresponsible and dangerous, writes Yahoo News. As you said, the downside for women across the country is that more women need to be appointed to leadership positions to achieve equality.

But the government doesn’t like what happened either. The Secretary of State for Public Administrations, Amélie de Montchalin, commented on the news: it is still a sanction imposed under the 2018 rules, which must be paid in this way, but the rule has since been changed.
