Education researcher Judit Lannert sought to correct the deviations under the guidance of the minister without a portfolio responsible for the families.

Following a highly outraged video by Katalin Novák, educational researcher Judit Lannert made her own version of what was said in it, as identified at the end of her writing: a mother with many children and a creative person.

The article published on Kölöknet.hu follows Katalin Novák’s phrases on video, but also takes into account the views of women, not just those who benefit from being treated as second-class citizens by society and politics. Judit Lannert explained that she wrote this text because “Katalin Novák is currently the most understanding member of the Hungarian government, an intelligent, multilingual and educated man. That’s why I, and I think most women, would expect much more and more from her. “

Here are some parts:

  • Don’t look for the answer to how to be successful and strong in a woman because that’s not the point. We seek the answer to how a woman can be happy, how she can feel fulfilled.
  • Girls and women are always told what not to do, so now let’s see more what to do about it. Believe me, they too can be as valuable as a man, and yes, with the same education and job, they certainly have the same pay and position.
  • The decision to live a happy life is not only in our hands, but also in men.
  • It is difficult to say that we are making a marriage alliance for life with someone. It is difficult to take responsibility for this, be it a woman or a man. It is also not easy to say yes to the blessing of children. After all, it also involves resignation and sacrifice, because having a child in Hungary is a point in women’s lives where, according to researchers, their wages are so disrupted that they can no longer accumulate this backwardness throughout their lives.
  • It is not easy to take care of the family every day, so that we have a job and fortunately a profession, but we do not have a partner who takes part of the burden. Research in Hungary has clearly shown that the burden of caring not only for children but also for elderly relatives falls on women. Partly because men don’t take their share enough, and partly because great systems of care don’t work well.
  • But we don’t think we will be strong if we depreciate ourselves doing all the unpaid work because of our role in ourselves. It’s not these difficult bad decisions resulting from structural coercion that make us really strong. It is daring to defend ourselves. And anyway, why do we have to be strong, that is, why do we have to put up with all this? No, we are not strong, and many times we do not have the strength to carry the loads that are placed on our shoulders, or even to be able to carry the loads of others. This is what those who enjoy the benefits of low-paid or unpaid women’s work want us to believe.

We ourselves would make a correction, because we believe that in this sentence, subconsciously, unnoticed, the patriarchal worldview returns, which considers man by default, and against which the author also acts with his own means. Judit Lannert at one point encourages women to believe that they can be they are so valuablelike a man. We could be even further ahead if society represented that a women are so valuable toolike a man.

Despite the principle of equal pay for equal work, it is a fundamental economic policy in almost all countries of the world that women are in a worse financial and labor market situation and that unpaid domestic work is carried out by women, but What does this mean in terms of numbers? Particularly current is the statement by Secretary of State Katalin Novák, which caused a huge storm, according to which women should not bother because they earn less than men and have to do things at home anyway.

Katalin Novák's message to women: don't bother earning less than men
