The six-time world champion demanded justice for Breonna Taylor at the top.

Riots have been going on for months in the United States and several other countries over police brutality and institutional racism. Demonstrations under the auspices of the radical movement for equal treatment of African Americans, Black Lives Matter, escalated after US police killed several unarmed African Americans in action. You can follow the latest news in our series of articles.

The International Automobile Federation (FIA) launched an investigation after the winner of the race, Lewis Hamilton, wore a jersey with the following inscription before and after the podium of the Formula One Tuscan Grand Prix:

Arrest Police Officers Who Killed Breonna Taylor “.

On the back of Hamilton’s black T-shirt, below Taylor’s portrait, was the text “say his name.”

The six-time Mercedes world champion also demanded justice in a post-race interview with a 26-year-old healthcare worker who was shot in March this year in Louisville, Kentucky. Taylor was shot and killed in his own home by civilian police officers after being attacked at night. They did not plan to break into his apartment. The woman’s friend thought she was dealing with robbers, so she fired a warning shot with her own weapon, which the police returned with targeted shots.

Hamilton also wore the jersey when he fell to his knees before the start of the race and protested against the bite of racism. Several followed him, others simply circled the knees.

In front of the F1 driver, many other athletes have already drawn attention to the story of Breonna Taylor. Most recently, Osaka Naomi, who wore masks labeled with seven different names during the US Open Tennis Championships, did it: with women and men of color who were executed by police in the United States.

Hamilton has become a vocal supporter of the Black Lives Matter movement in recent months, announcing the top step of the podium with the well-known Black Panther gesture after the July Styrian Grand Prix.
