Lidl has taken a brutal step: what will be the response of its competitors?
The German discount chain will launch in the British market in September with a new application called Lidl Plus – writes daily.hu.
The chain’s mobile app, which debuted for the first time in Ireland, offers users different discount coupons each week that must be activated before use. From the price of the first purchase, 5 pounds will be released, that is, almost 2 thousand florins, and at the time of payment you can scan the digital card stored in the application and redeem the coupons that grant discounts.
After purchases, those who download the application also receive a lottery ticket, and can also store the purchase invoice digitally.
German discount chains, Lidl and Aldi, pose a serious challenge to their British competitors, such as Tesco, where in the spring they tagged products that are certainly cheaper than their Aldi counterparts with red bubbles.
