To transport them safely and without damage, but in a sustainable way, the chain of stores offers a reusable bag as an alternative to the classic disposable plastic bags.

The company aims to encourage its customers to make more environmentally conscious purchases, reduce plastic consumption and minimize plastic waste in the long term.

they write.

The reusable bag that is emerging now is more ecological and sustainable in the long term, so there is less plastic waste generated through its use and it is also made of recyclable polyester. It weighs only 8 grams, but it can also pack up to 5 kg of fruits, vegetables or baked goods. The reusable bag is machine washable at 30 degrees and can be found in 2-pack.

It is very important for our company to use less and less plastic. Our customers and, above all, our environment expect from us sustainable and respectful solutions with the environment. Through our measures, taking into account sustainability aspects, when possible, we reduce the burden on the environment. Today’s announcement is another step by Lidl to offer our customers an alternative solution to commit to long-term sustainability, ”said Judit Tőzsér, the company’s communications manager.

The Hungarian network has set itself a goal of reducing the use of plastics by 20 percent by 2025 and making 100 percent of packaging for private label products fully recyclable.

As a result of this process, the company, in cooperation with its suppliers, has introduced a series of measures through which the store chain is reducing the use of its plastic packaging materials year after year and contributing to the protection of the environment. The company is constantly exploring the possibility of which products can bypass plastic packaging entirely and in which cases alternative packaging methods can be used. Only in the case of the supply of fruits and vegetables, the discount chain saves more than 17 tons of plastic per year through measures such as replacing plastic sorting inserts with eco-friendly paper trays or making 3-4-piece packs available .
