The Prime Minister’s Press Office published the letter, which Orbán wrote to Viktor Manfred Weber. The letter will be published in its entirety.
Viktor Orbán’s response to Manfred Weber (EU Samizdat No. 3)
The mainstream media in Europe exclude, ignore and block thoughts that do not fit the world view that lurk every day. This will also be muted. This is not unknown to us Central Europeans. That is what we invented samizdat. Write, print, read, distribute! Szam izdat, that is, from ourselves to ourselves.
On December 3, Manfred Weber told accredited correspondents in Germany that they would not establish the infamous rule of law mechanism against Hungary and Poland. Furthermore, the goal is to depoliticize rule of law issues in order to remove them from partisan political debates.
The truth, however, is the opposite. This is evidenced by the following statements.
Commission
Jourová: Orbán builds a sick democracy.
Reynders: There is a crisis of the rule of law in some Member States. Especially in Hungary and Poland.
Timmermans: The free press hardly exists in Hungary.
Dalli: This mechanism is the way to bring Member States online.
Parliament
Vice President Barley: Hungary and Poland must go hungry.
Verhofstadt: It is not necessary to test whether the operation of Hungary and Poland is in line with the system that will be established now. This has already been tested. It should be activated immediately now.
Governments
Maas: Now we will finally have a tool that will be very painful for Hungary and Poland.
Asselborn: You need to neutralize this cancer. Hungary is the same dictatorship as Belarus.
The situation is clear, dear Manfred. He wants to change the current legal situation to create an instrument that can immediately turn against Hungary and Poland. In light of the statements of the European Commission, the European Parliament and the politicians responsible for the national government, he can no longer deny it. And he hopes that we Hungarians will accept it.
The Germans have asked us Hungarians for many things in history, but you are the first to look at us as a bastard. We are not.
