The first Mustang was built according to his plans, but he also designed many other Ford cars in almost half a century.
Although the name Gale Halderman may not say much in Europe, its cars are well known to many. Gale started working for Ford in 1954 and spent over forty years there. The culmination of his career was clearly the birth of the Mustang.
It happened in 1962 when a tender was announced between Ford and Mercury designers for the design of the first muscle car in the modern sense, and then Halderman’s drawing became the finalizer. Thus was born the legendary Mustang.
Halderman and his design team made the Mustang series with minor modifications based on the plans. It followed the design of the first-generation Mustang until the end of the last model. But to this day, the series carries its letter with a triple standing tail light and its logo. In recent years, various Ford and Lincoln designs can be linked to him, but the culmination of his career is clearly the Mustang.
