After the Calvary featured on yesterday’s watch, the Ferrari inside their home they expected a much easier career. Today’s result, however, shows the opposite: both SF1000s finished outside the scoring places in a difficult and not very memorable grand prix for them.
Sebastian Vettel (13.) and Charles Leclerc (14.) was unable to harness engine or DRS power on the straights and thus was unable to defend himself much at the most popular overtaking point on the spa track. Leclerc commented on the post-race events as follows:
“Well that day wasn’t easy. Honestly, I don’t know what to say. It was ugly, very ugly. We have to do something.” He summed up his experience of the young Monaco.
Leclerc also had other technical problems with the SF1000 in the first stage of the race, as if the chronic lack of power that the Maranello cars had already shown in Barcelona testing did not slow them down enough.
“It was hard enough to hide my frustration. Very. But that doesn’t change what you could do with the car. I wanted to do my best, as always, but today was very difficult. We had two slow wheel changes due to some kind of problem. So we couldn’t even overtake the straight with the DRS open. It is very difficult, but now it is the case. “

In closing, Leclerc warned fans not to expect a 180 degree turn at Monza either, because the Italian track is quite similar to the Belgian one. That is why Ferrari does not come to its first home race this year with high expectations:
“It will also be very difficult at Monza. If we talk about Mugello or Imola, we may have the opportunity to go back to where we have been until now, but Monza will be a very difficult bone to break.
