László Upor admitted that the document in Origó’s possession was real

Of course, we knew exactly, but now László Upor, the resigned vice-rector (but still in the direction of the interim), also admitted that the document sent to Origo is real, which shows that the interim’s barricade was a well-organized student action and not spontaneous. We described this in our article yesterday and featured the letter the Performing Arts Communication Chief sent to the students.

Let’s first look at the letter from László Upor, which he sent to Origó’s questions. Extremely instructive:

Of course, I knew that in mid-August, during the semester extended until August 31 due to the COVID situation, the university students would be organizing a free university.

The themes of the free university and the list of speakers – true to the name of the event – the organizers were not obliged to agree nor did they agree with the direction. I agree with the government’s position: I cannot obstruct the democratic rights of students, so it doesn’t matter what my personal opinion is about the program they are advertising.

Contrary to what is hidden in the question, the theme of the free university was not how to occupy or block the university, but rather in connection with the change of model, its social, political, philosophical and artistic aspects were discussed.

Being a university event, it goes without saying that the notifications were sent by the communications manager at the request of the students. This is one of your job responsibilities and primary responsibilities.

As far as I know, the students initiated and fully organized the subsequent university occupation and blockade. If you have any other authentic and verifiable information please let me know.

I am convinced that there would not have been a strong reaction from the students if the model change had taken place fairly, if their arguments had been heard and if the university had not been deprived of all self-determination.

Regards,

László Upor

We briefly summarize the main statements of László Upor:

1. The students organized a four-day camp for themselves (for how much money ???), they got the Performing Arts campus so that László Upor had no idea what would be there, only that there would be something, and then the students organized a summer from the camp, the call was distributed to the students by the Performing Arts employee, the communications manager. So they organize the students themselves and then ask the press to send them to them, themselves.

2. The Performing Arts employee (the communications manager) doesn’t even look at what you’re sending.

3. László Upor does not have a personal opinion as to why Márton Gulyás, who condemned the Sándor Palace and the SAO, or Bálint Misetics, an expert in blockades, will give them a lecture a month before the blockade. Why is it a subject of the Resolution of the University of Zagreb, why is it an issue that has gone beyond representative democracy, why is it a blockade issue, why is it an issue of how to resist confinement, etc. It’s true, according to László Upor, they actually talked about the blockade without.

4. On the other hand, the former vice-rector (but still in office) still finds it plausible that the blockade was a spontaneous action, not supported by a part of the teaching staff. (According to this, László Upor was obviously not behind them either …)

5. The reason for all this is the change of model. (Interestingly at other universities, this did not imply a lockdown).

Anyone can decide how credible it is after this that the university barricade is not backed by some more powerful art professors, influenced by leftist politics and fearful of its power for many decades.
