László Kuncz, who died at the age of 64, is an Olympic, world and European medalist, two hundred times elected national water polo player.
Sunday’s obituary on the Hungarian association’s website recalls that Kuncz began his sports career as a swimmer in the Budapest Army and then played water polo in 1972. Three years later, in his first adult league game, he scored five goals. for the FTC, so Federal Captain Dezső Gyarmati invited him to the national team.
He was on the podium with the national team at the 1980 Moscow Olympics, winning a bronze medal, but was a member of the team that came second at the 1982 World Championships and second at the 1983 European Championships. and third in 1981. He was a three-time Hungarian champion and cup winner, a two-time BEK winner with OSC and a KEK winner with Vasass. He later worked as a coach, most recently with the BVSC youth team. (MTI)
