When a 59-year-old man broke into an apartment building reserved for the elderly in Fontana, California, he presumably didn’t expect to meet serious resistance. After alerting the police, he ran into the apartment, then immediately attacked the man: kicking his foot to the ground, then twisting his toe so hard that he screamed in pain.

Although a spokeswoman for the local police praised the woman, they said that in a similar situation they prefer to advise everyone to call the police because it is never possible to know if the attacker does not have a weapon.
