Kunhalmi admitted that Orbán was right

Ágnes Kunhalmi, co-chair of the MSZP, admitted on the ATV program that Viktor Orbán is right that Hungary has a huge reserve and there is no dire need for the resources of the EU Recovery Fund.

“The Prime Minister rarely tells the truth, but now he is right that it is not urgently needed, as his reserves are huge, the MNB bond issuance is successful, people take government securities, there are EU funds from the budget above, so you are in a comfortable position to allow this now”- commented Ágnes Kunhalmi about the situation of the Hungarian-Polish veto in the ATV program Straight Speech.

This is all interesting because the Baliberal side has been talking about Hungary’s long-term need to borrow from the EU. Then Ágnes Kunhalmi spoke outside the balliberal canon and surprisingly recounted the facts, as it really is the case that Hungary and Poland have good negotiating positions in the EU negotiations, these two countries are not at all as urgent as the southern ones to accept the agreement. As a result, chances are high that Brussels will have to give in to the so-called “rule of law” mechanism, Dániel Deák wrote on his Facebook page.
