There is growing resistance from students and professors to the erosion of the autonomy of the University of Theater and Film Arts (SZFE) due to the government’s decision to continue the university as a foundation under Attila Vidnyánszky. In their open letter, Emil Novák, Acting Chancellor General and Chancellor Gábor Szarka, offer that the university’s full-time employees will receive a uniform 10 percent salary increase as of September 1.
They also commit that, should the deal be approved, a single salary scale will be introduced beginning January 1, 2021, resulting in an additional 15% average salary increase and allowing university staff to continue. working with your previous civil service status.

The condition for the fulfillment of these offers is that the strike call for SZFE employees be withdrawn immediately, without further conditions, they wrote.

An additional condition is that acts intended to alter the order of university teaching and hinder the internal functioning of university facilities (including in particular the blockade) must end in all its elements no later than midnight on October 7, to that new university leaders can and do enter. the original entry order. At the same time, the signature of other documents that are essential for the calculation of salaries, payment of salaries and the normal operation of the university will be ensured, the open letter says.

According to the proposed agreement, comprehensive and wide-ranging consultations will be initiated on the future of the SZFE with the participation of all university citizens, whose topics include the planned developments and, in particular, the issue of university autonomy. The details of the consultations will be determined by mutual agreement between the Parties.

The forums formed as a result of the student organization may continue to operate within the framework of the Self-Government of University Students, but this should not lead to the interruption of educational activities. The issue of continuing or suspending the academic semester depends on the restoration of educational order as soon as possible, emphasizes the document.

The signatories agree that, in accordance with the commitment assumed by the SZFE management in their communications and communications to date, they will not take any action against the employees and students who participated in any act between the start of the protests and midnight of October 7 that: they intended to disrupt the operation of the university or its educational activities.
