The Honor 30 family made its debut with just three members, as did the high-end section of the Huawei P40, although the cheapest model, without suffixes, uses the Kirin 985, also introduced at the same time as the series, instead of the SoC Kirin 990 5G. This is a surprise because the flagships are the Kirin 990 series, the upper-middle class Kirin 820 5G, and the design of a new or redesigned chipset is a significant cost, but even more interesting is the chipset specification.

This SoC is the first HiSilicon chip to use the Mali-G77 graphics accelerator (according to AnandTech in the MP8 configuration), the Kirin 990 uses the Mali-G76, and the Kirin 820 uses the Mali-G57. Also unusual, though not unprecedented, is Huawei’s 1 + 3 + 4 processor core mapping: one scaled to 1.58 GHz and three fast 2.4 GHz cores from the Cortex-A76, and four Cortex-A55 1.84 GHz units. Kirin 985 is manufactured on one of the TSMC’s 7nm nodes.

Even more interesting is the first result of the performance test, although not everyone considers that AnTuTu has authority. On the one hand, point 386045 is convincing, if it is intended for agricultural equipment on the edge of the upper middle category and the upper category, in China the price of Honor 30 corresponding to 137 thousand forints fulfills this. However, when broken down into categories, the Kirin 985’s processor performance also appears to lag behind that of the Kirin 980 and Kirin 820, though the latter lags behind in terms of graphics and memory performance, respectively.
Slightly stronger in the final clearance, there’s not even a significant difference between Kirin 985 and 820. However, perhaps most importantly, they mark the speed of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G, so they are definitely two powerful SoCs, unless are packaged in a higher priced phone. Expected to be Huawei Nova 7 It also stops at the Honor 30 price level and will also fight Kirin 985 when it introduces the Nova 7 SE(Kirin 820) and Nova 7 Próalong with (Kirin 990 5G).

The previews promise an OLED panel and a camera capsule that rotates twice around the edges, with a good chance of an infrared identification system, which is starting to catch on today for Huawei and Honor phones. Equally popular is the rear-facing two-column camera design with periscope zoom, and one of the Nova 7 posters confirms this.
