Momentum MEP Anna Donáth tried to explain in confusion when she should have answered the question why Momentum cooperates with Ferenc Gyurcsány, who ordered the 2006 terror, and the anti-Semite Jobbik. A Garage Debate was held in the Csepel Works area to replace the lost Tranzit dispute, where Justice Minister Judit Varga regularly swept her counterpart Anna Donáth, an instant EU representative. Perhaps the most instructive point of the debate was when Anna Donáth was forced to admit: if we look at the rule of law criteria one by one, Hungary is doing well. Judit Varga added: This is exactly the Bolshevik rhythm that prevailed in the Sargentini report: they don’t look at the details, but instead attack Hungary by adopting general mantras.
The debate followed the same old pattern: Judit Varga kept arguing with the concrete ones, while Anna Donáth tried to avoid it and repeated political voices from the left in general.
Donát was proud to have a very good working relationship with Vera Jourova, to which Judit Varga replied:I am not surprised that there is a good working relationship between you, since (Vera Jourová – ed.) From each meeting we are very well informed about fake news
Judit Varga strongly complained that Jourová, praised by Donáth, was manipulatively leaking in the face of all reports on the EU’s rule of law.
In the conversation, the Justice Minister asked how he could form an alliance with Ferenc Momentum Gyurcsány and DK – a politician who ran into systemic rule of law issues in 2006 under his prime minister.
In 2006, the courts were effectively under political pressure and Brussels did not transfer its staff Judit Varga said.
The Minister of Justice recalled that in 2006, the courts of first instance ordered preventive detention in 139 of 141 cases in cases in which it was later determined that the protesters had not committed any crime.
So we didn’t even get to a simple audience in Brussels, just a book presentation, ”said Judit Varga. Anna Donáth tried to evade the answer in a rather unique way by saying that Momentum did not yet exist in 2006 and that at that time it was not the current Commission and Parliament in Brussels. She did not answer why they would now cooperate with Ferenc Gyurcsány, responsible for the eye shots.
Anna Donáth responded only by repeating the usual political slogans: according to her, there is no rule of law or democracy in Hungary. When Judit Varga asked for details, unexpectedly, and in a rather absurd way, she replied: the details (“checklists”) are not worth looking at, because Hungary is doing well.
So aren’t we going to sue?
Judit Varga asked. The justice minister added that it is a real left communist step to accuse Hungary of uncontrollable generalities rather than specifics. The Sargenzini report is a good example of this.
Judit Varga mentioned that in Holland, for example, there is no constitutional court and after three failed referendums, the institution of the referendum was abolished, saying that it caused failures.
The rule of law cannot be created by undermining the rule of law
