Ákos Hadházy, an independent member of parliament, traveled to Kecskemét on Monday to attend a court hearing, where János Zuschlag testified. According to the indictment, Zuschlag and his associates organized camouflage parties to gain support from the campaign while stealing personal information from an insurance company to obtain the necessary recommendations to get started.
Several of these parties participated in the 2014 elections and the suspects also organized in 2017, but were later arrested by the authorities.
János Zuschlag defended himself by contributing to the founding of strange parties based on his commitment to public life and his charitable tendencies. At trial, he was unable to report on the political goals of the parties he assisted, but said he thought a party had enough goals in itself to exist. He added that there are those who only stand for elections because they enjoy them.
Zuschlag is currently a garage manager at a mall, but he said his friends can help him earn a living. The former socialist deputy (1998-2004) had previously committed several years in prison for fraud.
