Only one in six to seven respondents in Hungary is confident that they will be vaccinated, according to a survey released by the Central Statistical Office on Monday.
In the first week of December, more than a third of those surveyed were negative about vaccination. 14.9 percent of them said they were using the vaccine and a fifth could not or did not want to answer the question yet.
So the mood for vaccination appears to be quite low at the moment, because at least 60 percent of society would have to receive the vaccine to significantly reduce the spread of the epidemic.
Research has also shown that people over 64 and those with a tertiary education are more likely to get vaccinated. The unemployed, the young and the least educated are the most rejected.
The rejection rate in neither group reaches 50 percent.
Attitudes toward vaccination are primarily influenced by the image of vaccine safety, according to CSO research.
More than half of those surveyed do not take into account the views of anti-vaccine groups and skeptics about vaccination, a quarter more.
Government communication about vaccination and information in the press affects more than two-thirds of those surveyed, and information on social media affects less than 60 percent.
