There was an astonishing crowd on the 4-6 tram in Budapest and at the stops during the rush hour on Friday afternoon, in fact even in the early afternoon. Origo’s photographer also saw at the roundabout stops that both the stop and the tram were overcrowded, which was very dangerous at the time of the epidemic. The government decided in early November to toughen public transport to combat the epidemic, but the capital’s left leadership, perhaps out of irresponsibility, perhaps due to some misunderstood and quite damaging political considerations, did not.
This photo was taken in Blaha Lujza Square on Friday afternoon. It is clear that the wide stop is full, so many wait on one of the busiest lines in Budapest, the tram 4-6.
It probably also contributes to the fact that such a crowd has formed that some prefer not to get on the tram because it is crowded, so they wait for the next one to see if there is more space in it. This can be seen in our photo: not only is there a seat, but there is almost no space to stand on the tram. All this in an epidemic situation. Passengers wear the mask fairly, so they do their best not to get infected, but it is impossible to maintain a safe distance.

The government decided in early November, as part of the fight against the epidemic, to increase the frequency of public transport. However, the capital did not. The Government Office of the capital city of Budapest found this week that the Budapest Transport Center (BKK) still does not condense 91 percent of its flights. They added that BKK had not been able to present a career plan suitable for evaluation for the third time, so they called the company again in the capital.
