In front of the new Athletic Center, on the other side of the Kvassay Bridge, the first European campus of Fudan University in China was built. The government will buy the necessary parcels of land, but it is not yet known exactly which properties the Chinese university will receive for the development of the former Nagyvásártelep – Kvassay Jenő út – Ráckeve Danube branch. The area is the same as the location of the previously planned Olympic village, which was later renamed the “Budapest Student City – South Gate of the City”. A few months ago, this area looked like this:

The National Bank of Hungary initiated the emergence of the University of Shanghai in Hungary. Viktor Orbán agreed to the plan in 2018 and in December 2019 Minister László Palkovics also signed an agreement on the new campus with representatives of the university. According to the ideas of the time, the campus could be finished in 2024, where education would be taught in four or five faculties (economics, international relations, medicine, technical sciences), although initially it will only be a master’s degree. The five to six thousand students would be taught by 500 teachers.
