Italian scholars have managed to reconstruct the bodies of two victims, Mr. and his servant, who died in Pompeii in the outbreak of Vesuvius nearly two thousand years ago, MTI reported.

The remains of the two people were found in good condition in a village on the outskirts of the city. Even the clothes they were wearing at the time of their death were reconstructed based on the fabric prints.

The younger of the two people was between 18 and 25 years old, probably a servant, dressed in a short robe, presumably made of wool. The old man was a wealthy man in his 30s and 40s, according to scientists, who wore a tunic and a woolen cape. The two bodies could be reconstructed because the skeletons were preserved in a place closed by volcanic ash.

Investigators said all the men died on October 25, 1979.

His remains were discovered during excavations at Villa Civita Giuliana, 700 meters northwest of Pompeii. In 2017, horse remains were also found at this site.

Although the Pompeii museum is closed to the public due to the coronavirus epidemic, researchers continue to work.

Pompeii, which was destroyed during the eruption of Vesuvius, was discovered in the 19th century. Exploration work has continued since then.

Scientists said on Saturday that the two men may have tried to escape the Vesuvius eruption, but were buried in volcanic ash the next morning, to no avail, fleeing to the lower subterranean level of the village, which they thought might protect them. The two victims lay side by side on their backs, found in a layer of gray ash about two feet deep. Archaeologists were able to determine its age from its skeletal remains.
