World leader Novak Djokovic wanted to end his tennis career in 2010. The Serbian star made this decision because he was extremely exhausted by Austrian Jürgen Melzer’s five-time loss in the French Open quarterfinals.
“It hit my heart that I came out, emotionally low, I cried a lot. It was the time of my life when I didn’t see any point in continuing, I wanted to stop playing tennis forever.”
Djokovic, 32, said Sky Sports is based on MTI.
Here is a video of a match 10 years ago, with Austrian Melzer having the best season of 2010, then winning Wimbledon and, in November 2010, advancing to sixth place in the world ranking. Djokovics was selected in third place.
Djokovics won the Australian Open once in 2008, but then fell into minor ups and downs and only started his career in 2011. He also won three GS tournaments in 2011 and has had 17 wins since then.
