According to Bild and RMC Sport, Leonardo, sporting director for the PSG soccer team, fired head coach Thomas Tuchel on Wednesday night. The German specialist could be followed on the bench by former Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino.

The club has not yet officially announced the change, so the fate of the outgoing German manager’s squad is unknown, so if Zsolt Lőw, who works as assistant coach at PSG, will be able to stay at the club.

A few days ago, the Hungarian coach said in a statement to National Sports:

The two-and-a-half-year contract, in addition to head coach Thomas Tuchel, who attracted me to Paris, will be linked to PSG until next summer, and there has been no talk of an extension to date. Maybe not a problem, because that way we have no choice but to focus on finishing this season with the greatest possible success. We also try to make the most of this, although we do face significant concerns. The defining players who left in the summer, we somehow tried to make up for the loss; to stay, it didn’t necessarily work out. And then I didn’t even talk about injuries … So it’s too early to talk about what summer brings. If our contract expires, the club is free to choose, as are we. I’m not worried because I had and still have promising opportunities. I’m sure I’m facing a summer of great decisions.

This season, PSG have scored 35 points in 17 league games and are in third place in the table, just one point behind leaders Lyon and runner-up Lille. Most recently at home, in a very high reserve lineup, they beat the Strasbourg Guard 4-0. Finishing in first place in the group established by BL, both RB Leipzig and Manchester United behind him, he reached the eighth final.
