The two leading teams in the German Bundesliga, champions Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund, played in the 2020 German Soccer Super Cup. The match at the Allianz Arena was unusual in several respects. Due to the coronavirus epidemic, the clash had to be played without spectators, and as Bayern also won the championship and the cup this year, they became second-placed in the German points hunt.
The home team took the lead in the 18th minute with a blow from Corenton Corisso (1-0), then Thomas Müller increased the Bavarians’ lead in the 32nd minute (2-0). Dortmund were able to beautify at the end of the first half as Germany’s Julian Brandt scored a goal in the 38th minute, as the teams finished Bayern with a 2-1 lead.
At the start of the second half, young Dutch striker Erling Braut Håland drew (2-2). Dortmund was able to get on top in the 60th minute when Manuel Neuer missed his shot after a cross from the right. The final score was put by Joshua Kimmich in the 82nd minute when he first scored the ball and then, with some luck, got it into Dortmund’s goal (3-2).
