Index – National – You can even go to jail for criminal restriction, but that excites few

More and more on-board camera footage distorts the public’s nerves about hair-raising maneuvers when someone on the highway or main highway is in such a rush to retaliate with a criminal stop after overtaking that they have been “delayed.” That is, obstructing the driving of the other motorist in serious danger.

It is important to know that, in addition to losing their license immediately, the offender may even face imprisonment for it.

However, more and more cases of this type are being made public. Krisztián Csősz, founder of the Budapest Motorists Association, told Index that criminal braking is not a Hungarian national sport, and this “disciplinary” device is a big fad in the east and west of us.

But why do they do it?

Dr. Eva Knapek was asked about the psychological causes of the criminal restriction.

In general, why does someone decide to prosecute?

It is not the result of a conscious decision, but rather the imagination of a knee-jerk reaction to a strong impulse or a sudden upheaval that an angry car wants to teach another or educate a lesson. These drivers want to show their superiority, their power, to the other that they are in control.

And what is the psychological motor of the thing?

Perhaps this goes beyond the reaction of our angry infantile state. One can imagine a sense of legitimacy behind recklessness, a subjective and irrational feeling of “I can do it” because the other deserves it, like “how daring to hold it!” Sometimes in our lives, we can all experience empowerment. The question is, how common is this: once a year or every day? And of course, it is primarily with what dangers and potential consequences we have to be aware of.

I wanted to get ahead of the closing line. And that was just the beginning.

More typical of the rich?

According to Krisztián Csősz, founder of the Bp Motorists Association, criminal braking is an everyday phenomenon on the roads, which we believe is becoming more common just because more and more cars have on-board cameras. Although, according to Csősz, luxury car drivers are more prone to more or fewer TRAFFIC infractions, it cannot be said that they commit a higher proportion of criminal braking. But even the most watched drivers are surprised why this dangerous maneuver is chosen by aggressive motorists for situations that could be solved with a humming and a friendly babble.

So does any kind of frustration arise with criminal braking?

It is conceivable that a feeling of inferiority, humiliation, smallness lived for a fraction of a second, is the starting point of such an angry and irresponsible behavior.

Why are you not alarmed that the penalty has been included in the Penal Code?

Since this is probably not the result of a conscious decision, but rather an outburst of anger due to the lack of an emotional regulation process, the process of planning and considering the consequences cannot be “exhausted”, it does not happen. He may be in a state of himself where he has no adult functions, at least for the moment.

The hardest cases

Interestingly, when punitive drivers spring into action, they are most often defended by slowing down in a sudden agitation in front of each other, but it is not uncommon for them to try to deny what happened:

Annoyed, I took revenge with a criminal stop

The police and various channels also share images of irregular and dangerous maneuvers. We followed up on what was happening in the penalty area, in the inside lane in a crack, and what the TRAFFIC and the Penal Code say.

Of course, there are also conscious punitive brakes that not only want to scare the other driver, but also want to create a dangerous situation. The most incomprehensible case occurred in the introduction to M1 / M7:

Here's a higher level of criminal braking

So far just criminalized? Let’s stop for a word!

Although the Penal Code. According to him, he could get up to 8 years to be sentenced to criminal restraint, and serious penalties can be expected without an accident, but so far no one has been jailed for it. A woman who is causing a tragedy, on the other hand, may receive a suspended prison sentence for failing to provide assistance after the accident and continuing to drive. Most of the offenders escaped criminal arrest by losing their license.

The most absurd case was presented by a driver on Sunday when the M3 subway replacement braked in front of one of the articulated buses, which is not used to accelerating above 40 KM / H anyway. The bus driver avoided the accident , the driver initiated a process against the driver:

According to the TRAFFIC, the driver who tries to regulate in this way must also do everything possible to avoid the accident, since during a possible procedure the police will check if the vehicle has observed the correct following distance. Insurers recommend that drivers be installed in-car cameras because recorded videos help clarify disputed situations faster.

And the extent to which criminal braking is not a Hungarian phenomenon is best demonstrated in a Polish case in which the criminal started pushing a tractor. After the farmer dodged the car zigzagging in front of him twice, he was finally unable to avoid the collision and found it completely from behind:
