Due to a violation of mask wearing rules, trains were delayed ten times in the last week, for a total of 172 minutes. In a statement, MÁV pointed out that although the use of a mask is mandatory on trains, this does not really interest the traveling public, since they had to act in ten cases in a week because some passengers were not wearing protective equipment.

On four suburban lines, the Pusztaszabolcs, Szolnok, Esztergom and Vác lines, the half-hour delay was due to inattention or carelessness by passengers.

A passenger on a train on Lake Balaton

hit the chief ticket examiner,

because he warned about the mandatory use of the mask. As a doctor had to be called due to an injury to the ticket inspector, the train stopped running and the railway company filed a complaint.

It was emphasized that these cases show that any person who does not comply with the regulations, despite the call, not only endangers the health of him and his passengers, but also causes unnecessary and avoidable inconvenience to passengers of train.

They added that according to a government decree issued on September 18, the use of the mask will no longer be mandatory not only on trains but also in stations as of September 21.

Based on these, it is mandatory to wear the mask in the waiting room, in the underpass, in the closed overpass, in the cash register room and in the case of the Budapest headquarters in the track.

The railway company recommends wearing masks on open platforms, as well as on open overpasses to protect the health of themselves and their passengers.

The regulation applies to all persons except those under six years of age and excludes from the trip any passenger of a railway company who does not wear a mask to cover their nose and mouth in the manner required by the regulation.
