Balatoni Hajózási Zrt. (Bahart) is auctioning the public port of Csopak – writes Hírbalaton. The initial price is HUF 52 million and the electronic tender will run until October 20. By the September 15 deadline, 50 hopeful buyers had paid the HUF 5.5 million auction guarantee.

To the municipality of Csopak otherwise, you have the right of first refusal over a total of 2,800 square meters of advertised boat stations throughout the park and marina. The winner is not obligated to operate the property as a public port. If the Csopak marina becomes privately owned, the only hope remains that the new owner will not completely enclose the area of the marina, which previously functioned as a public park, that borders the marina, and will seek cooperation with local government, said Tibor Ambrus, mayor of Csopak.

Bahart, with a state majority, announced in late April a reorganization plan in which several ports would be closed and valuable areas would be privatized. In May, it was also revealed that four of the 22 ports, Balatonkenese, Csopak, Balatonakali and Balatonudvari, would be closed and put up for auction. Property rights over Bahart are exercised by the Hungarian Tourism Agency, whose shareholder rights are held by the Minister of the Cabinet, Antal Rogán.
