Out of two independent candidates, Zsuzsanna Vargáné Molnár was elected mayor of Hövej in Győr-Moson-Sopron county in the provisional municipal elections on Sunday, the head of the local election office told MTI.
According to Orsolya Pintér, 232 of the 307 voters on the register showed up and 228 cast valid votes. Zsuzsanna Vargáné Molnár received 146 votes, the former head of the settlement, Istvánné Horváth, received 82 votes.
Parliamentary elections were also held in the town on Sunday, with eight candidates running for four seats. The by-election was held because the House of Representatives declared its dissolution on July 2.
