The court overturned the first suspension of the instant mayor of Göd, Csaba Balogh, from his position as mayor. The mayor himself, Csaba Balogh, announced it on Facebook.
Csaba Balogh told Mérce: the court agreed with his objection that he had flaws in both procedure and concept when the Board of Representatives suspended him for the first time for 2 weeks. The shooters argued that Balogh had committed crimes while working, but the disciplinary investigation into the matter was not completed until the vote on the suspension was taken. Balogh did not try to avoid a disciplinary investigation against him. In that sense, its suspension was therefore not justified.
The court reversed his suspension with retroactive effect, which means that the activities of Deputy Mayor Zoltán Fülöp, who was acting mayor during this period, are considered pseudo-representation. Balog must now look back at the decisions made in the two weeks in question and accept or reject them in hindsight, Mérce writes. Balogh promised to accept decisions in good faith, however, when bad faith is suspected, there will be rejection. He also appealed to the court for his second suspension, now for 30 days. Balogh expects to receive a favorable verdict on this also from Monday to Tuesday.
For a long time there has been tension in the agreement between the instant mayor and the municipal representatives of the opposition. It was formed due to negotiations between the city and the Samsung factory. The open conflict has degenerated to the point where the board suspended the mayor.
In the Pest County settlement, tension in the opposition faction has raged for months. In early July, we wrote that the instant mayor of the city, Csaba Balogh, had removed his deputy mayors LMP and DK because he felt that the deputy mayors did not serve the interests of the city in their work. On July 17, a disciplinary proceeding was launched against Balogh, after which he was suspended twice by the House of Representatives.
According to the two expelled deputy mayors (Zoltán Fülöp from LMP and László Lőrincz from DK), Balogh annulled the opposition’s agreement with this. The opposition members of the junta and the mayor also accused each other of collusion with Fidesz. The tension really got angry when DK deputies tried to prove their truth with a sound recording, but Momentum said the sound recording was cut to distort its meaning.
DK and Momentumom announced in a public event that they would resolve the matter, party presidents András Fekete-Győr (Momentum) and Ferenc Gyurcsány (DK) met at Lake Balaton. At the conciliation meeting, Fekete-Győr spoke about the need to fix the situation in Göd, because it cannot be considered that while the local mayor is “fighting against local Fidesz and Samsung”, there is even an internal opposition in the ranks of the local opposition. Ferenc Gyurcsány said that he agreed with Fekete-Győr on the matter. According to Gyurcsány, the decision of the people of Göd should be what happens in the settlement, but they will agree with the Momentum to “be calm.”
