In the last 24 hours, the number of infected people has increased by 2,219, while the number of tests performed has increased by 195,670. The number of people hospitalized above 8,000 for the first time – revealed based on the latest data from koronavirus.gov.hu.
“I am pleased to announce that a website has been launched where you can indicate your need for the vaccine. The registration interface can be found on the website. This is a needs assessment that can be used to estimate how many people want to be vaccinated against the coronavirus, ”Cecília Müller said at a press conference on Tuesday for the operational strain responsible for coronavirus control.
The national medical director highlighted:
Vaccinations can be started if there is a vaccine approved by the authorities, which currently does not exist in Hungary.
The government is discussing all options, which is promising, with more than 17 million vaccines contracted so far.
He reported that the documentation of the Russian vaccine is being examined, and also spoke of a vaccine that had just arrived in China, “which is also under investigation.”
It is not yet possible to say with which foreign vaccine we will start the vaccination series, scheduled for the first quarter of 2021.
The national medical director stressed that actual vaccines can only be started after all permits are in effect. Once they have reached this stage, people will be informed.
Cecília Müller asked everyone to fill in the data accurately and carefully on vakcinainfo.gov.hu, because “registration means information.” The provision of personal data is necessary because they will be able to notify applicants later of these contact details. However, he added: “The vaccination is not in the order of record, we are following a specific vaccination plan.”
He also mentioned that there is no obligation if someone does not want to be vaccinated after registration, the needs can be changed. Dialogue is necessary for efficiency.
“Unfortunately, we lost 136 patients, who generally suffered from multiple chronic diseases. Basically, the quality of your underlying disease is divided according to the disease conditions, ”summarized the chief physician.
According to Cecília Müller, the spread of the epidemic is expected to stagnate,
but these results can only be maintained if the population continues to adhere to disease control measures. You think the plateau could take several weeks, but you don’t know exactly how long.
He stressed that relief would make the situation worse now. It also reported an increase of 37,031 confirmed infections in the past week, 55 percent of which were women. He also explained that the age distribution has not changed from the previous week’s comparison: the proportion of people older than 65 is 16.7%, but most new infections come from the age group 40 to 44 years. Their proportion is 23 percent of the new cases last week.
Examined by geographical breakdown, according to the medical director, Budapest had the highest number of new infections and the lowest in Nógrád.
In response to a journalist’s question, Cecília Müller said that if someone notices symptoms again a few weeks after recovering from a coronavirus infection, inform their GP. For now, little is known about this disease, nor how long it is protected by the antibodies produced by the virus.
