Teachers did not receive the 100% sick pay promised by Minister Miklós Kásler – writes 24.hu.

In September, the minister even promised that all infected teachers at the school would receive 100 percent sick pay.

However, according to the educators who spoke in the case, so far only a few educators have received 100 percent of sick pay, and most receive only 60 percent of their salary.

At the request of the portal, the Ministry of Human Resources stated: “In the presence of a positive laboratory result, the government office of the capital city or the county responsible for the employer’s facilities may establish that the teacher has encountered a person infected by Covid-19 by profession.

When claiming 100% of the sick pay, those affected must go through a lengthy nine-point procedure,

which, to put it mildly, does not make it easy for educators to access the promised amount of money.

At the end of November, Minister Gergely Gulyás also spoke about the payment of sickness benefits. The minister said at the time that it should be assumed that educators have become ill at work and that the procedure to claim 100 percent of sick pay should be simplified and accelerated, which the government will initiate. However, this has not happened yet.

Professional organizers also noted that many educators refused to take samples for fear they would produce a positive result and be quarantined for part of their salary.
